Website design
How we design websites that bring enquiries
Web design that turns visits into enquiries
If you are comparing options for web design in Mississauga, you have probably noticed that almost every agency page makes the same promise: a responsive, fast, SEO friendly website. Canada Create™ builds sites like that too, but the things that decide whether a new website pays for itself happen before any design work starts. Which pages does the site need? Which search should each page win? What does a visitor have to see before they pick up the phone? How will every call, form and booking be tracked so you know what the site produces? We have planned and built business websites since 2008 for companies across Canada and the United States, and the same team that runs our SEO plans your site map, so the new site is built to rank from launch instead of being patched afterwards.
This page explains how we work, what every project includes, what drives the cost, how long a build takes and how to compare agencies, freelancers and do it yourself builders. If you would rather talk it through, our toll-free line, +1 (800) 808-9235, is answered 24/7. Get a proposal in one business day.
What a business website has to do
A business website has four jobs, and a design that looks good but fails any one of them will cost you enquiries. It has to be found by people searching for what you sell. It has to earn trust within a few seconds. It has to explain your services clearly enough that the right customers recognize themselves and the wrong ones move on. And it has to make the next step obvious and easy on a phone.
Visitors arrive with four questions, usually in this order: is this the right provider for my need, can I trust them, what will it involve or cost, and how do I start? We design every service page to answer them in that sequence, with a clear headline that names the service, proof near the top such as projects, credentials and live Google reviews, an honest explanation of process and pricing factors, and one clear call to action repeated where it makes sense.
Different buyers also behave differently online. A family choosing a dental clinic compares hours, insurance details and reviews on a phone in the evening. A facilities manager comparing HVAC contractors reads capability pages and certifications on a desktop at work. A founder hiring an accountant reads team bios and wants to understand how fees are set before booking a call. A good website is designed around the customer who pays the bills, rather than around a template that happened to look nice in a demo.
What every website design project includes
Scope is agreed after discovery and priced in writing. These four pieces are part of every build, whatever the size.
Responsive design in Figma
Desktop, tablet and phone layouts for each page template, built on your brand and approved by you before development starts.
A build your team can edit
WordPress or Webflow, with forms connected to your inbox or CRM and files that are not tied to a proprietary builder.
SEO foundations
Site map, titles, headings, structured data, speed work and redirects from every old URL, so the rankings you already have are protected.
Accessibility and tracking
WCAG checks during design and build, and GA4 tracking for calls, forms and bookings from launch day.
Conversion tracking is set up and tested before launch, so from the first week you can see how many calls, forms and bookings the site produces and which pages bring them. If you run paid search, landing pages can be built inside the new site and measured the same way; see our Google Ads in Mississauga service. Revisions are built into each stage: you review the site map, the wireframes and the designs, and changes are made before we move on, which is far cheaper than changing a finished build.
Website design for companies that plan to grow
Small businesses and larger companies need different things from a website, and a good project plans for where the business will be in a few years as well as where it is today.
For a local service business, the priority is usually a clear page for each service you sell, contact details that match your Google Business Profile exactly, reviews shown near the top and a quote or booking form that is quick to complete on a phone.
For B2B companies such as manufacturers, distributors, logistics firms and corporate offices, the buyers are procurement teams, engineers and operations managers who build a shortlist after reading capability pages. Those sites need a structure by service line and market served, detailed specifications and capacities, certifications you actually hold, case studies you are able to publish, and enquiry forms that ask the right questions without scaring buyers away. Many also need a careers section that helps with recruiting, which is often as big a constraint on growth as finding customers.
For companies with several locations, each staffed location gets its own page with its team, hours, parking, services and reviews, linked to shared service pages, and enquiries are routed to the right location automatically. Location pages are only created where there is a real location or real work to show, because thin pages written only for search engines rarely rank and can drag the rest of the site down.
Responsive, fast and mobile friendly
Most local searches happen on phones, so every site we build is designed for small screens first and then expanded for tablets and desktops. Buttons are large enough to tap, phone numbers are clickable, forms bring up the right keyboard for each field, and menus stay simple.
Speed matters for rankings and for enquiries. We size and compress images properly, avoid heavy page builders and unnecessary scripts, use caching and a content delivery network, and test on real mobile devices over mobile connections rather than only on a fast office computer. Core Web Vitals are checked before launch and again after, because a site that loads slowly loses visitors before they read a word.
Choosing the right platform
We recommend a platform after discovery, based on how your team will use the site and what it needs to connect to.
- WordPress with a custom theme suits most service businesses, clinics and professional firms. Editing is flexible, and the tools for accessibility, structured data and multilingual structure are mature. See our WordPress development service.
- Webflow suits design-led marketing sites edited by a small team that wants visual control and managed hosting without plugins to maintain.
- Shopify suits retailers and brands selling online, and WooCommerce suits stores that need to live inside a larger WordPress site. See ecommerce website development.
- Custom builds are reserved for portals, dashboards and sites that connect deeply to internal systems.
Whatever the platform, you own the domain, hosting account, design files and content. If you ever decide to move on, you take everything with you.
The best website builder in Canada, and when to build it yourself
We are often asked which website builder is best, whether web design can be learned on your own and whether a business can build a website for free. Here are honest answers.
Can you learn web design yourself? Yes. The basics of layout, typography and a builder’s interface can be learned from free tutorials. What takes much longer is the part that brings enquiries: planning pages around searches, writing copy that answers buyers’ questions, technical SEO, accessibility, tracking and protecting rankings during a redesign.
Which builder is best in Canada? There is no single best builder, only a best fit. Wix and Squarespace are quick for simple brochure sites. Shopify is strong for online stores. WordPress is the most flexible for content-rich service sites and for growing over time. The right choice depends on how many pages you need, who will edit them and what the site must connect to.
Can you build a website for free? You can start one for free on most builders, but a free plan usually means the builder’s branding, a subdomain instead of your own domain and limits on features. A professional business site needs, at minimum, your own domain, reliable hosting, a security certificate and a plan for updates. If a free or do it yourself site is enough for now, we will say so. When you need a site that is expected to produce enquiries, that is where an agency earns its fee.
What is the most popular website in Canada? Global platforms such as Google, YouTube and Facebook are among the most visited sites in Canada. The useful lesson for a business is that customers arrive with habits formed on those sites: fast pages, clear buttons and instant answers. Your website is judged against that experience.
Redesign without losing your rankings
One of the most common ways a business loses search traffic is a redesign that changes URLs without redirects, removes pages that were ranking or launches on a slower platform. Before we touch the design, we export every URL your current site has, check which pages bring traffic and links in Google Search Console and analytics, and map each one to its new home.
On launch day we test the redirects, submit the new sitemap and watch Search Console over the following weeks, fixing anything Google reports. If your current site ranks well for some searches, those pages keep their URLs where possible and their content is improved rather than replaced. If it ranks for nothing, we build the site map from what your buyers actually search for.
Content and copywriting
A website project often stalls because the design is ready and the words are not. Copywriting can be part of the project: we interview your team, draft each page from the questions your customers ask and the searches the page must rank for, and revise with you until every fact is accurate. You supply the knowledge; we shape it into pages that read well and rank.
Content is never copied from competitors or generated in bulk. Each page is written for your business and your customers, and nothing goes live until you approve it. If you serve customers in other languages, the site can be structured with separate language versions and proper language tags, using translated content you provide.
Photography matters too. Real photos of your people, premises and work build more trust than stock images, so we plan the photos each page needs and make the most of the images you already have.
Custom features: quotes, bookings, portals and dashboards
Many businesses need more than pages. Common features include multi-step quote forms that collect project details, online booking connected to your scheduling system, client portals with secure logins, internal dashboards, job or product databases and integrations with accounting, inventory or practice management software.
Forms and booking tools connect to the systems your team already uses, whether an inbox, a practice management system, a third-party CRM or CS+, the CRM Canada Create™ uses to handle form routing, missed-call text-back, booking reminders and review requests. Forms collect consent where commercial follow-up is planned, in line with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation, and ask only for what is needed to respond.
What about mobile apps? A native app for the App Store or Google Play is a separate project from a website. For many businesses, a fast mobile website with booking, accounts or a web app covers the need without asking customers to download anything. We will tell you which approach fits after discovery.
Online stores and B2B ordering
For companies that sell online, we build stores on Shopify or WooCommerce with Canadian tax settings, shipping and local pickup options, product pages written to rank for the searches buyers use, and analytics that track revenue by source. For wholesale and B2B buyers, stores can include customer-specific pricing, quick ordering and account-based checkout.
Websites built for search and AI answers
Search visibility is far easier to build into a new site than to add later. Every site we launch includes a keyword map that gives each important search one page, clean URLs, a logical heading structure, internal links between related services, structured data for the business, its services and FAQs, an XML sitemap and fast loading. Your business name, address and phone number match your Google Business Profile exactly.
More buyers now ask AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Gemini, or read Google’s AI Overviews, before choosing a provider. A mention is never certain, but the same foundations help: pages that answer specific questions directly, clear facts about who you are and what you offer, structured data, and a consistent presence across your Google Business Profile and trusted directories. If you want ongoing work on rankings after launch, our SEO in Mississauga service starts from CAD 1,500/month, with higher tiers by proposal.
Accessibility and AODA
The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act sets website accessibility requirements that apply to many Ontario organizations, based on the international WCAG guidelines. Smaller businesses benefit from accessible design too, because it makes sites easier for everyone to use, including people on small screens or in bright sunlight. We design and test to WCAG 2.1 Level AA: sufficient colour contrast, logical headings, keyboard navigation with visible focus, labelled forms with clear error messages, alternative text for images and captions for video. If you are unsure whether AODA requirements apply to your organization, confirm with the Ontario government’s guidance or your own adviser.
Speed, security and hosting
Security covers software updates, backups, firewall protection, spam protection on forms and uptime monitoring. We can host your site on our managed website hosting, or build on the hosting you already use if it meets the site’s needs. Either way, the hosting account and domain stay in your name.
What website design in Mississauga costs
How much should a full website design cost? It depends on scope, which is why every project is scoped and priced in writing after discovery. The main cost drivers are:
- The number of pages and the number of distinct page templates.
- How much copywriting, editing and content migration is needed.
- Custom features such as quote forms, booking, portals or dashboards.
- Integrations with a CRM, scheduling, accounting or inventory system.
- E-commerce: product count, variants, shipping rules and payment options.
- The level of custom design compared with a lighter design system.
- Multiple locations or separate language versions of the site.
We separate the one-time build fee from ongoing costs such as hosting, optional care plans and third-party software subscriptions, so you can see exactly what you are paying for and when. Advertising spend, if any, is paid directly to the platform and never mixed into our fees. If your budget is fixed, tell us at the start; we will recommend what to build first and what can wait.
Searches for free or online web design usually mean one of two things: a do it yourself builder, or an agency that works remotely. Our discovery call and written proposal cost nothing, and projects run online with shared design files and a staging site you can check at any time.
How long a website takes
A focused service business site usually launches within two to three months of discovery. Larger sites with many service pages, online stores, multiple locations or connections to other systems take longer. Content is the most common cause of delay, so we start writing early and share drafts page by page. You receive a schedule with review dates at the start, and we raise any risk to the launch date as soon as we see it.
What do we need from you to get started? Access to your current website, domain and analytics, your logo and brand files, a list of your services and the customers you most want, and a decision maker who is available for reviews at each stage.
Web designers, freelancers or an agency?
Why not use the cousin who does graphic design, or a freelancer? For some businesses a skilled freelancer is a sensible choice. The gaps usually appear in the parts that are not visual: planning pages around searches, technical SEO, redirects during a redesign, accessibility, tracking, security updates and support when something breaks at an inconvenient moment. A graphic designer can make a site look good; a web design team is accountable for how it performs.
An agency costs more than a freelancer but gives you a team: strategy, design, development, content, SEO and support under one written agreement. The right answer depends on your goals, your budget and how much of the work you want to manage yourself.
How to choose a Mississauga web design company
Portfolios show what looks good; they do not show whether sites rank, load quickly or produce enquiries. Ask each agency you are considering these questions:
- Who writes the content, and how do you check it is accurate?
- How will you protect our current rankings during the redesign?
- How do you test accessibility and speed before launch?
- Will we own the domain, hosting, design files and content?
- What does support look like after launch, and how is it priced?
Test some of their live client sites on your own phone. Be cautious of very low prices for “custom” sites, proprietary platforms you cannot leave and agencies that quote before asking about your goals and customers. Canada Create™ has been in business since 2008 and is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating.

How long does a website take to build?
A focused service site usually launches within a few months of discovery. Larger sites, online stores and projects with integrations take longer, and the timeline is written into the quote.

Not if the migration is planned. We map and redirect every old URL, keep ranking pages where possible and check Search Console after launch.
Should my website use WordPress, Webflow or Shopify?
WordPress suits most service businesses and content-rich sites, Webflow suits design-led marketing sites edited by a small team, and Shopify suits online stores. We recommend one after discovery, and you own the site either way.
Will my website be mobile friendly and fast?
Yes. Every site is designed for phones first, then tested on real mobile devices for speed and usability before launch.
