Keeping your audience engaged and informed is crucial for any website. One effective method is to showcase timely announcements prominently on your site.
Incorporating announcements is a powerful strategy to capture user attention and increase conversions. They can communicate essential messages, guide users to popular content, promote special offers, and more.
At CanadaCreate and our affiliated brands, we regularly use announcements to keep users updated on new features, special discounts, and other important information.
This article will guide you through the easy process of displaying announcements in WordPress.
The Importance of Adding Announcements in WordPress
Many well-known websites utilize special announcements in the form of a floating bar at the top or bottom of their pages. These announcement bars are highly effective, which explains their growing presence across various sites.
Announcements stand out on any WordPress website due to their strategic placement, typically appearing as a full-width bar at the top or bottom of the page.
You can leverage this space to offer exclusive discounts, launch time-sensitive marketing campaigns, encourage user participation in surveys, promote new blog posts, and more.
Additionally, you can enhance your announcement bar with visual effects, countdown timers, and email subscription forms.
Let’s explore how to easily add announcements to your WordPress blog. We will cover two methods, and you can click the links below to jump to any section you prefer:
- Method 1: Use OptinMonster to Display Announcements in WordPress

OptinMonster enables you to turn website visitors into subscribers and paying customers. It offers various campaign types, including announcement bars that can be positioned at the top or bottom of your site.
Most importantly, it features robust display rules that allow you to present different content to different users. You can also customize when and where your announcements appear.

A popup will appear, allowing you to log in and link your WordPress site to your OptinMonster account.
With your WordPress site connected, you can now create your first geotargeted campaign. Head to the OptinMonster » Campaigns page and click the ‘Add New’ button.
First, select the type of campaign you want to create. OptinMonster offers various options including lightbox popups, floating bars, inline opt-ins, fullscreen displays, slide-ins, and gamified campaigns.
For this tutorial, we will select a Floating Bar campaign, which allows you to showcase a floating bar at the top or bottom of your website.

Then, enter a name for your campaign. You can choose any name you like before clicking the ‘Start Building’ button.
This will open OptinMonster’s campaign builder interface, allowing you to see a live preview of your campaign on the right side.
You can easily click on any element in the preview to edit, move, or delete it. Additionally, you can add new components by dragging and dropping blocks onto the template.
In this example, we are using an announcement bar to promote a special offer, featuring a countdown timer to create a sense of urgency.
