Here’s a crucial tip: Amazon requires you to generate at least three qualifying sales within 180 days (6 months) of your approval to keep your account active. While this may seem daunting, it’s quite manageable once you start incorporating links into your content.

The objective is straightforward: quickly achieve your first three sales to unlock the advanced tools we will discuss later.
Step 1: Locate Your Product on Amazon
Begin by logging into your Amazon Associates account. Then, navigate Amazon.com as you usually would to find a product you wish to promote on your WordPress site.
Once logged in as an affiliate, a gray SiteStripe toolbar will appear at the top of every Amazon product page. This toolbar allows you to create affiliate links with ease.
Step 2: Create Your Affiliate Link
On the product page, refer to the SiteStripe toolbar at the top. Click the ‘Text’ link found under the ‘Get Link’ section.
Amazon will automatically provide you with a short link (amzn.to). This is your unique affiliate tracking link.
Next, copy the link URL to your clipboard. You can either highlight the text or click the ‘Copy’ button if available.
Important Note: Amazon no longer offers the ‘Image’ or ‘Text+Image’ options in SiteStripe. To showcase product images, you will need to use a plugin like AAWP (Method 2) once you have API access.

Why choose this approach?This is my favorite method for showcasing products on established websites because it automates maintenance. While I still prefer Method 1 for simple text links within paragraphs, I rely on AAWP for all my product displays and comparison tables.
The plugin also generates visually appealing product boxes that appear more professional than the standard SiteStripe cards. However, there’s a crucial requirement: you need API access first, which necessitates making three initial sales.
Understanding the API Access Requirement
Before using AAWP, you must obtain access to Amazon’s Product Advertising API. Amazon grants this access only after you achieve at least three qualifying sales within your first 180 days.
If you haven’t reached this milestone yet, you will need to use Method 1. After making those three sales, you can request API credentials from your Amazon Associates dashboard and set up AAWP.
Step 1: Install and Activate AAWP
First, ensure you have access to the Product Advertising API (which means you have already completed three qualifying sales). If you haven’t, you won’t be able to use this plugin yet.
Once you have confirmed your access, you can purchase and download AAWP. While the plugin is not free, it provides powerful automation features that can save you significant time on manual tasks.

After activation, navigate to Amazon Affiliate » Settings and select the ‘Licensing’ tab. Input your license key from the AAWP website and click ‘Verify License’.

I have a personal guideline for popups: avoid showing them immediately. It’s best to present your offer at the moment the reader is most engaged.
That’s why I recommend setting the trigger to appear after a user has scrolled at least 50% down the page. This way, you’re showcasing the product to someone who is already invested in your content and is ready to take action.
You can also implement page-level targeting. For instance, if you’re advertising kitchen gadgets, you might want to display the popup only on posts categorized under ‘Recipes’ or ‘Cooking Tips.’
Once you’ve finished setting up your rules, click on the Publish tab in the top menu. Here, you can review your summary settings, but I typically stick with the default settings to prevent overwhelming visitors.

On the Publish screen, you can double-check your settings one last time. When you’re ready, simply toggle the Publish Status from ‘Draft’ to ‘Publish.’
