Are you looking to preview and test your WooCommerce emails?
Customizing your WooCommerce emails is easier when you can preview their layout to understand how they will appear to your customers. It’s also essential to test their deliverability to ensure they reach your customers’ inboxes instead of landing in the spam folder.
In this article, we will guide you on how to preview your WooCommerce emails before sending them out.
Why Is It Important to Preview and Test Your WooCommerce Emails?
As a WooCommerce store owner, it’s crucial to ensure that your receipts and order update emails look professional, contain accurate information, and are delivered promptly and reliably.
You’ll want to tailor the text and design of your emails to align with your brand and offer the best user experience for your customers.
When customizing your WooCommerce emails, having the ability to preview the changes instantly on-screen without sending test emails each time is incredibly beneficial.
While theWooCommerce » Settings » Emailspage offers a ‘Click here to preview your email template’ link, it shows placeholder text rather than the actual wording and layout of your store’s customized emails.
Fortunately, you can use a plugin to preview your WooCommerce emails. We will explain how to do this below.
It’s essential to ensure that your WooCommerce emails are delivered correctly. By default, WordPress emails may not be optimized for deliverability, which can result in them landing in spam folders or being blocked entirely.
Now, let’s explore how to effectively preview and test each email that your WooCommerce store sends.
How to Preview Your WooCommerce Emails
Start by installing and activating the Preview E-mails for WooCommerce plugin. For detailed instructions, check out our step-by-step guide on installing a WordPress plugin.
After activation, navigate to the WooCommerce » Preview Emails page to select which WooCommerce email you want to preview.
To do this, simply click on the ‘Choose Email’ dropdown menu and select the WooCommerce email you wish to view.
Next, select an existing order from the ‘Choose Order’ dropdown menu.
The information from this order will be used to generate the email preview.
If the order you want to use for the preview isn’t listed, you can find it using the ‘Search Orders’ field.
TipIf your WooCommerce store hasn’t received any orders yet, you can create a test order by enabling Stripe payments in test mode.
To send a test email, enter an email address in the ‘Mail to’ field. Leave this field blank if you only want to preview the email on your screen.
Clicking the ‘Submit’ button will display a preview of the selected email.
If you entered an email address in the ‘Mail to’ field, a test email will be sent to that address as well.
How to Test Your WooCommerce Emails
Next, you’ll want to test your emails to ensure your customers receive them.
Begin by installing and activating the WP Mail SMTP plugin. For detailed instructions, refer to our step-by-step guide on installing a WordPress plugin.
There is a free version of WP Mail SMTP that includes essential features for enhancing your email deliverability. For this tutorial, we will use WP Mail SMTP Pro, as it is required for testing WooCommerce emails.
The Pro version also offers features such as priority support, comprehensive email delivery logs, and options to control which emails are sent from your site.
After activation, you will need to configure the plugin to work with an SMTP mailing service.
The WP Mail SMTP wizard guides you through the setup process step by step. Alternatively, you can refer to our comprehensive guides on configuring WP Mail SMTP with Brevo (previously known as Sendinblue), Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, Amazon SES, or your web hosting provider.
We recommend using Brevo as it allows you to send up to 300 emails per day for free.
If you prefer not to handle the technical aspects yourself, the Elite plan offers a White Glove setup service, where their team will install it for you.
After installing and configuring WP Mail SMTP, you can send a test email.
To initiate this, navigate to WP Mail SMTP » Toolswhere you will find the test email page. Simply input the email address you want to send the test email to, then click the ‘Send Email’ button.
Next, check your email inbox to confirm if you received the test email.
