Embed Spotify in WordPress: 2 Simple Ways

Remember the days when sharing music online involved uploading MP3s and wrestling with difficult audio players?

Fortunately, today’s streaming services simplify online music sharing, and Spotify is a prime example. As a major music platform, Spotify provides user-friendly embedding options that integrate seamlessly with WordPress.

Being both a music enthusiast and a WordPress user, I wanted to find reliable ways to incorporate Spotify content into WordPress sites. Whether you’re reviewing music, producing podcasts, or just eager to share playlists, I’ll demonstrate how to embed audio content without any coding.

This tutorial presents 2 simple techniques for embedding Spotify content into WordPress. These methods are ideal for sharing individual songs, entire albums, podcast episodes, or complete playlists. 🎶

Why Embed Spotify in WordPress?

If you’re a musician or podcaster, embedding Spotify content on your website is an effective way to promote your creations. You can showcase your songs, albums, or episodes directly to your audience, keeping them on your site instead of redirecting them.

Even if you’re not promoting your own work, Spotify embeds can enhance user engagement on your site.

For example, music reviewers can embed the tracks they are discussing, and bloggers can create a mood with a curated playlist.

Spotify offers various types of content that can be embedded:

  • Single tracks – Perfect for promoting your own music or highlighting a specific song.
  • Albums – Excellent for showcasing complete releases, particularly for artists or music critics.
  • Playlists – Share your favorite collections or set the mood with themed playlists.
  • Podcasts – Ideal if you host a podcast and want to share episodes on your site.
  • Artist profiles – Highlight your own Spotify artist page or feature others you support.

The best part? Spotify comes with easy embed links that you can use in WordPress.

💡 Note:The position of Spotify’s buttons/menus can change based on the web, desktop, or mobile app version. This how-to uses the Spotify web player.

Method 1: Embed Spotify Using the Spotify Block in WordPress (No Plugin Needed)

This is the easiest method because you just need to add a block in the WordPress block editor. It’s great for adding tracks, playlists, or podcast episodes directly to your posts or pages – no extra plugins needed.

First, let’s get the Spotify content link. You can start by opening the Spotify web player or desktop application to access its content (logging in is optional).

From the Home screen, use the Search function to find content to embed. Search by song, album, or artist.

For example, I looked for Dream, Ivory’s artist page.

Just click on the relevant search result when it appears.

Once inside, you can click the three-dot button next to the ‘Follow’ button on the artist’s profile.

Next, hover over the ‘Share’ option and then click ‘Copy link to artist.’

If you want to embed a single track, then you can click on the three-dot button for a track.

Next, hover over Share; click the Copy Song Link button.

To embed a full album, scroll down the artist page to the ‘Discography’ section.

After that, simply click on the album you want to share to open it.

Below the album name, click the three-dot button.

From here, you can hover over ‘Share’ and click ‘Copy Album Link.’

The same general steps apply for playlists and podcasts.

Be certain to click the correct three-dot button for the specific item: song, album, playlist, show, or artist page.

Step 2: Embed the Spotify Content into WordPress

Now, let’s add the link to your WordPress website.

You can embed Spotify content in any post or page; this tutorial will demonstrate using the WordPress block editor within a blog post.

From the WordPress dashboard, navigate to Posts » Add New Post or modify a current post where the Spotify player should be placed.

Pasting the Spotify link directly into the editor works. I’ll also show the dedicated Spotify block method.

In the editor, click the ‘+’ button to add a block and search for ‘Spotify Embed.’

After locating the ‘Spotify Embed’ block, click it to add it to the editor.

Paste the previously copied Spotify link into this block.

You can then click the ‘Embed’ button or press ‘Enter.’

WordPress will automatically fetch and display a live preview of the embedded player.

Before publishing, you might want to adjust the ‘Media settings.’ You can find this slider in the ‘Block’ tab on the right.

Enabling this setting ensures the Spotify player displays correctly across all screen sizes, aiding mobile responsiveness.

Once satisfied with the Spotify player’s appearance, click ‘Publish’ or ‘Update’ to finalize it.

Your audience will then find a fully functional Spotify player embedded in the post, enabling direct audio playback.

Method 2: Employ the EmbedPress Plugin for Spotify Embedding (Enhanced Customization)

The EmbedPress plugin grants greater control over your embedded Spotify content. This plugin lets you adjust player dimensions and integrate social sharing features without coding.

Moreover, it integrates smoothly even if the Classic Editor is still your preference.

Step 1: Plugin Installation – EmbedPress

Begin by installing and activating the EmbedPress plugin, which is available at no cost.

💡 Pro Tip:While the free EmbedPress version offers excellent features, EmbedPress Pro provides extended control. This includes custom branding, player design adjustments, lazy loading to improve speed, and even custom ads to increase monetization.

Start by logging into the WordPress admin area and navigating toPlugins » Add New Plugin.

Enter ‘EmbedPress’ in the search field, and then select ‘Install Now,’ followed by ‘Activate’ once the plugin appears.

If assistance is required for plugin installation, consult our guide on WordPress plugin installation.

Step 2: Spotify Content URL Retrieval

The next step involves copying the specific URL of the Spotify content that you wish to embed. This demonstration will show you how to locate playlist and podcast links.

Start by accessing either the Spotify web player or the desktop application. It is not necessary to log in for this step.

After accessing Spotify, utilize the search function at the top to locate the specific playlist or podcast for embedding.

On the results page, find the ‘Playlist’ area and proceed.

Next, select the specific playlist that you intend to embed in your post or page.

Locate the three-dot menu either below the playlist’s title or adjacent to the ‘+’ button and click it.

A menu will appear; hover your mouse over ‘Share’, then select ‘Copy link to playlist’ from the options.

Navigating to an artist’s page is also an option, as they often feature a curated playlist you can use.

As an illustration, I visited Nina Simone’s artist page and scrolled downward to locate her playlist labeled ‘Artist pick’.

After opening your chosen playlist, click the three-dot menu close to the title or the ‘+’ symbol.

Next, hover over ‘Share’ and select ‘Copy link to playlist’ from the displayed options.

The procedure for embedding podcasts follows a similar pattern.

Simply start by using the ‘Search’ feature to go to the podcast. Then, click the three-dot button, hover over ‘Share,’ and click ‘Copy Show Link.’

If you prefer to share a specific episode, scroll down the podcast’s main page.

Then, click the ‘Share’ icon next to the episode you want to embed and copy the link.

The process remains virtually identical for songs, albums, and individual artist pages.

Ensure you are selecting the correct three-dot menu for the specific item you wish to embed.

Step 3: Add the Spotify URL to WordPress Using the EmbedPress Block

After you have obtained the URL, you can easily embed Spotify content within any WordPress page or post by utilizing the EmbedPress block.

To begin, create a new post by going toPosts » Add New Post. Alternatively, you can open the post where you want to embed the track, playlist, or podcast.

To begin, select the plus sign, the ‘+’ icon, within the editor.

Next, locate the EmbedPress block by searching for it.

Once you’ve found theblock, select it to insert it into the editor.

Then, insert the Spotify link into the EmbedPress block.

Don’t forget to click the ‘Embed’ button or press ‘Enter.’

EmbedPress will then instantly fetch the preview and display it right inside the content editor.

You will now find additional controls for the audio player.

In the right panel, you can find the option to resize the player by adjusting its width and height. This is really helpful if the default Spotify player doesn’t quite fit the layout of your WordPress theme or looks too wide on mobile devices.

Additionally, enabling social sharing can improve the discoverability of your content.

This is also a great way to encourage visitors to share your curated playlists or podcast episodes on their own social media profiles, helping you reach a wider audience.

With this setting, you can choose whether to show the icons at the top, left, right, or bottom of the Spotify player.

EmbedPress Pro also offers options to customize the audio player’s color scheme and include a ‘Follow’ button, potentially increasing your Spotify follower count directly from your WordPress website.

After customizing, select ‘Publish’ or ‘Update’ to apply the changes.

Done! Your Spotify content should now be fully functional on your WordPress site. 🎧

💡 Note: If you’re using the old Classic Editor, then you can simply paste the Spotify link into the Visual editor.

With the EmbedPress plugin active, it will recognize the Spotify URL and handle the embedding process for you.

Go Beyond Embedding: Sell Your Music 💿

By embedding your tracks on your website, you expand your potential audience. However, consider further possibilities.

You have the option to sell your music directly from your WordPress site, eliminating reliance on intermediaries and platform charges. This approach gives you greater autonomy over your music, helps you build a stronger fanbase, and increases your earnings per download.

The simplest method for achieving this is to utilize Easy Digital Downloads, a leading WordPress plugin designed for managing downloads.

Unlike broader eCommerce solutions, Easy Digital Downloads is tailored for selling digital items like MP3 files, complete albums, and sound libraries. This specialization means you avoid unnecessary settings related to shipping or inventory.

You can offer individual tracks, entire albums, or even collections of samples, benefiting from features such as secure file distribution, promotional discounts, and integrated customer relationship management.

For comprehensive guidance, consult this resource on selling music online using WordPress.

If you prefer selling physical media, such as vinyl records or compact discs, you’ll require a complete online store equipped to handle shipping, taxes, and inventory.

In this case, I suggest using WooCommerce, as it’s the most widely used eCommerce plugin for WordPress, which simplifies the process of selling physical goods online.
