In this article, we will guide you on how to automatically tweet whenever you publish a new post on WordPress.

Why You Should Automatically Tweet New Blog Posts on Twitter?

With over 217 million monthly active users, Twitter is an excellent platform for engaging with your audience and growing your following.

In fact, our marketing statistics research shows that users spend approximately 2 hours and 29 minutes on social media each day. This presents a significant opportunity to promote your blog posts.

Manually tweeting every time you publish a new post on your WordPress blog can be quite tedious.

Using a tool that automatically shares your new posts allows you to maintain an engaging Twitter feed, even during your busiest times.

Here’s how to automatically tweet whenever you publish new content on your WordPress site. You can use these quick links to navigate through the process:

Let’s get started!

Step 1: Install the Uncanny Automator Plugin

The simplest and most effective way to enable Twitter autosharing in WordPress is by using the Uncanny Automator.

Uncanny Automator is a top WordPress automation plugin that allows you to create automated workflows without any coding skills.

Think of Uncanny Automator as Zapier for WordPress, effortlessly integrating with essential WordPress plugins and third-party applications.

In this guide, we will utilize the Pro version of Uncanny Automator, which offers X/Twitter integration. You can also explore the free version to get a feel for the plugin’s features.

To enable automatic tweeting of new WordPress posts, you need to install and activate the Uncanny Automator plugin. For detailed instructions, refer to our tutorial on installing a WordPress plugin.

Once activated, you need to enter your Uncanny Automator Pro license key, which you will receive after purchasing a Pro plan.

Simply navigate to Automator » Settings and enter the license key in the designated field.

After that, click on ‘Activate License.’

Next, click on the ‘App Integrations’ tab and choose ‘X/Twitter.’

You will then select one of the connection methods: ‘Quick connect’ or ‘Custom app.’

With ‘Quick connect,’ you will easily link Automator to your Twitter app account, allowing for up to 5 tweets per day.

The ‘Custom app’ option allows you to use your own developer app to connect Automator to your Twitter account, providing a limit of 100 tweets per day. However, we recommend this option only if you have some familiarity with API.

In this tutorial, we will use the ‘Quick connect’ option. After selecting it, click on ‘Connect X/Twitter account.’

A popup will appear where you can enter the username or email associated with your Twitter account, along with your Twitter password.

Once you’ve entered your details, click the ‘Authorize app’ button.

You will be redirected back to the Uncanny Automator settings page.

Step 2:Create an Automated Workflow

You are now ready to create a recipe that will automatically tweet whenever you publish a new blog post.

To begin, navigate toAutomator » Add New. You will be prompted to choose whether you want to create a recipe for logged-in users or for everyone.

Select ‘Logged-in users’ and then click the ‘Confirm’ button.

Next, you can name your recipe by entering it in the ‘Title’ field. This is for your reference, so feel free to use any name you prefer.

Uncanny Automator recipes consist of actions and triggers. First, you need to select a trigger, which is the event that starts the recipe.

In the ‘Triggers’ section, choose ‘WordPress.’

You will now see a list of various WordPress triggers.

From the dropdown menu, select ‘A user published a type of post with a taxonomy term in a taxonomy.’ This option enables you to automatically tweet whenever a blog post is published in a specific category.

Then, open the ‘Post type’ dropdown and select the type of content you wish to share on Twitter.

For instance, if you want to share all blog posts, simply select ‘Post.’ You can also choose to share posts from a specific category or tag by adjusting the ‘Taxonomy’ settings.

Once you have finished, click the ‘Save’ button.

Next, you need to select the action that Uncanny Automator will execute when the recipe is activated. In this case, it will share the post on Twitter.

To begin, click on the ‘Add action’ button.

You will now see all of Uncanny Automator’s integrations. For example, there is a Twilio integration that allows you to send SMS notifications from WooCommerce.

Simply select ‘X/Twitter’ as your integration.

By default, you can only choose the ‘Post a tweet to X/Twitter’ action.

After selecting that, proceed to write a template message for your automatic tweets in the Status box.

You can enter plain text or use placeholder tokens for your status. Uncanny Automator will automatically replace these tokens with specific information, such as the title of the post.

To include a token in your Twitter status, simply click on the ‘*’ icon and search for the information you wish to add, like ‘Post title’ or ‘Post URL.’

If you want to use the same image for every tweet, you can paste the URL of that image into the ‘Image URL’ field. For instance, you might want to include your website’s custom logo in every tweet.

Another option is to display the featured image of the post. To do this, click the ‘*’ button next to the ‘Image URL or Media library ID’ field and select ‘Post featured image URL.’

Once you are satisfied with how the recipe is configured, remember to click the ‘Save’ button.

Step 3: Publish and Preview Your Automated Workflow

At this stage, you are ready to publish the recipe.

In the ‘Recipe’ box, click the ‘Draft’ toggle to change it to ‘Live.’

That’s all there is to it!

Now, Uncanny Automator will automatically tweet every time you publish a new blog post on your WordPress site.

You can test this by publishing a test blog post to see if Twitter automatically sends out a new tweet.
