Boost Sales: Send Coupons Automatically After WooCommerce Product Reviews!

send-coupon-after-a-woocommerce-product-review-og

Want to send a coupon after a WooCommerce product review? Encourage customers to review your business by sending them a coupon after every product review.

Product reviews are invaluable for your WooCommerce store, but encouraging customers to write them can be challenging.

Many customers are satisfied with their purchases but may not think to leave feedback unless incentivized.

Fortunately, there is a simple solution: automatically send coupon codes to customers immediately after they submit a review.

This creates a win-win situation where customers are rewarded for their time, and you receive essential reviews that assist future buyers in making informed decisions.

We have successfully guided store owners in implementing this strategy on their WooCommerce sites, resulting in consistently impressive outcomes. They experience an increase in reviews, repeat customers, and stronger connections with their audience.

In this guide, we will provide you with a step-by-step process to set up this automated system in your WooCommerce store.

Why Offer a Coupon After a Customer Reviews a WooCommerce Product?

Offering a coupon is an effective way to motivate customers to leave a product review in your WooCommerce store.

Many online shoppers rely on reviews before making a purchase, including those who visit your store. Positive reviews enhance trust and confidence in your business, leading customers to spend more when they see favorable feedback.

Many satisfied customers still hesitate to leave reviews. A popular method for encouraging product reviews is to offer incentives, such as re-engagement coupons.

WooCommerce provides a straightforward way to create coupons through its built-in functionality. However, it lacks the capability to automatically send coupons to customers who leave product reviews.

Some coupon code plugins also do not include the feature to dispatch coupon codes immediately after a review is submitted.

Manually sending WooCommerce discount coupon codes can be time-consuming, so we will guide you on how to automate this process.

This guide is organized into several steps, which you can easily navigate using the following quick links:

  • Step 1: Install the Uncanny Automator Plugin
  • Step 2: Create an Automated Recipe to Send Coupon Codes After Receiving a Product Review
  • Step 3: Activate the Uncanny Automator Recipe for Sending Coupon Code Emails

Step 1: Install the Uncanny Automator Plugin

The most effective way to automatically send a WooCommerce coupon after a customer leaves a product review is by utilizing the Uncanny Automator.

This is the most effective automation plugin for WordPress and WooCommerce that we have tested. It enables you to create intricate workflows without any coding and integrates seamlessly with various WordPress plugins and third-party applications.

Imagine it as a WordPress version of Zapier.

We have conducted a thorough review — take a look at our detailed evaluation of Uncanny Automator to understand its performance in practical scenarios.

Please note:There is a free version of the Uncanny Automator plugin that allows you to automate many standard tasks. However, we will be using Uncanny Automator Pro as it offers integration with WooCommerce.

The first step is to install the Uncanny Automator plugin. If you require assistance, please refer to our guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

After activation, navigate toAutomator » Settingsand input your license key in the ‘Uncanny Automator Pro license key’ field. You can locate this information in your account on the Uncanny Automator website.

Once that is completed, click on ‘Activate license.’

Step 2: Set Up an Automated Recipe to Dispatch Coupon Codes Following a Product Review

At this stage, you are prepared to create an automated workflow that will send a coupon code each time a customer leaves a review for one of your products.

Simply navigate toAutomator » Add newto set up your first workflow, referred to as a ‘recipe’ by Uncanny Automator.

You will be prompted to choose whether to create a recipe for logged-in users or for everyone. Since we want customers to be logged into their accounts, select ‘Logged-in users’ and then click the ‘Confirm’ button.

Next, you can name your recipe by entering a title in the ‘Title’ field. This is for your convenience, so feel free to use any name you prefer.

Uncanny Automator scans all the WordPress plugins and services configured on your WordPress site and displays the available integrations.

Under ‘Select an integration,’ click on ‘WooCommerce.’

Now, you can select your trigger, which is the event that initiates the recipe on your WordPress site.

In the dropdown menu, start typing ‘A user reviews a product’ and select the correct option once it appears.

Next, you need to specify the condition that will activate the action. Begin by clicking the WooCommerce icon under ‘Select an integration.’

In ‘Select a trigger,’ type ‘Review.’ You will see two options available.

If you select ‘A user reviews a product,’ Uncanny Automator will automatically send a coupon code via email to any user who submits a WooCommerce review.

If you prefer to manually approve reviews before sending out coupon codes, choose the trigger: ‘A user’s review on a product is approved.’

Next, decide whether the workflow should activate when a customer reviews any product in your online store or just a specific product.

For this tutorial, we will stick with the default option, which is ‘Any product.’

After that, click the ‘Save’ button to apply your changes.

Now, it’s time to set up the action. This step requires a bit more effort as there are various ways to configure a coupon.

To begin, click the ‘Add action’ button.

You will now see all of Uncanny Automator’s integrations. For instance, there’s a Twilio integration that allows you to send SMS notifications from WooCommerce.

Since we want to send a WooCommerce coupon code each time a customer leaves a review, select ‘WooCommerce.’

In the search bar, start typing ‘Generate and email a coupon code to the user’ and select the correct option when it appears.

This will introduce new settings where you can create your coupon code.

If you have created a coupon using a plugin like Advanced Coupons, simply enter the code in the ‘Coupon code’ field.

If you don’t have a coupon yet, you can leave this field empty. This will automatically generate a coupon code, which is the focus of this guide.

Next, enter a description for the coupon in the ‘Description’ field.

In the ‘Discount type’ field, select the type of coupon you want to create, such as a fixed cart discount or a percentage discount.

For this guide, we will choose ‘Percentage discount’.

Then, input the percentage discount in the ‘Coupon amount’ field.

In the image below, we are providing customers with a 30% discount on their purchase.

You can also offer free shipping by checking the ‘Allow free shipping’ option.

Scheduling coupons in WooCommerce can save you a lot of time. You may want to set an expiration date for the coupon by using the YYYY-MM-DD format or by specifying the number of days until the coupon expires.

For instance, in the image below, the coupon will expire after 14 days.

You can also define a minimum and maximum spend for the coupon. We will leave these fields empty so that customers can use the code with any purchase.

You can apply various restrictions to the coupon. Selecting ‘For individual use only’ ensures that customers cannot combine this coupon with other discount codes during the same transaction.

There is an option to ‘Exclude sale items’ which you can check if you prefer that customers cannot use this coupon on discounted products.

You have many additional settings available for the coupon. For instance, you can restrict the coupon’s usage to specific products.

These settings are quite simple to navigate, so it’s beneficial to review them and decide if you want to implement any modifications.

After that, scroll down to the ‘Usage limit per coupon’ section. To ensure that each customer can use this coupon only once, enter ‘1’ in the field.

You can also set a limit on the number of items a customer can purchase in one transaction. For this guide, we will leave this field empty, allowing customers to use the coupon regardless of how many items are in their WooCommerce cart.

Next, you can set up an email that will be sent to customers each time they submit a review.

First, ensure that the ‘From’ field contains the ‘Admin email’ token and the ‘To’ field has the ‘User email’ token. You can add these tokens by clicking the ‘*’ button on the right.

Then, in the ‘Subject’ field, simply enter the desired subject line for the email.

Next, enter the email address in the small text editor.

To increase the chances of shoppers opening the email, use a clear and descriptive subject line.

Then, personalize the WooCommerce email message in the ‘Body’ section.

You can write plain text or enhance your message by including placeholder tokens from the customer’s order. Simply click on the ‘*’ and search for the information you wish to include.

Once you are satisfied with the email, click the ‘Save’ button to finalize your recipe.

Step 3:Enable the Uncanny Automator Coupon Code Email Recipe

After that, you can activate the recipe.

In the ‘Recipe’ section, toggle the ‘Draft’ switch to ‘Live’.

Now, whenever someone leaves a review, they will receive a coupon code in their inbox as a token of appreciation.

Pro Tip:WooCommerce emails can sometimes fail to deliver. To mitigate this, consider using an SMTP plugin like WP Mail SMTP to improve your email delivery success.
