This payment method simplifies the checkout process for international customers and helps you establish trust with a vast new audience.
In this comprehensive guide, we will walk you through the process of accepting Alipay payments on your WordPress site, enabling you to broaden your reach and increase your sales.
Why is it Important to Accept Alipay Payments on Your WordPress Site?
By accepting Alipay payments on WordPress, you can connect with over 1 billion active users in China, many of whom favor this payment method. This can enhance your sales by streamlining the checkout experience and building trust with international customers.
When customers notice their preferred payment option at checkout, they are more inclined to finalize their purchase. This approach minimizes friction and encourages Alipay users to confidently click the ‘Buy Now’ button.
Alipay is a widely-used payment application that enables users to send and receive money online. It is especially popular in China and has gained traction in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and other regions around the globe.

Numerous domestic dropshipping businesses that purchase products in bulk also utilize Alipay. This is primarily because Alipay serves as the main payment method for major eCommerce platforms like Alibaba and AliExpress.

Are you ready? Let’s begin.
Method 1: Seamlessly Accept Alipay Payments Using WP Simple Pay (Highly Recommended)
In this approach, we will utilize WP Simple Pay, the leading Stripe payment plugin available. This plugin enables you to accept payments without the hassle of setting up complex APIs on your website.
Our analysis revealed that it integrates with Stripe’s payment options, allowing businesses using Stripe to accept payments from customers preferring Alipay. For more details, check out our comprehensive WP Simple Pay review.
The great news is that you can use WP Simple Pay Lite, which supports Alipay payments. Best of all, it’s completely free.
Important Note:To access the Alipay payments form, you will need WP Simple Pay Pro. The free version allows you to create an Alipay payment button for your pages, but you won’t be able to create on-site payment forms without the paid plan.
For the majority of businesses, we suggest opting for WP Simple Pay Pro. This premium version supports over 10 payment methods and includes features like recurring payments, buy now, pay later options, and an advanced form builder.
In this tutorial, we will use the Pro plan to create a payment form for accepting Alipay payments. While the process is similar with the free plan, you will have access to fewer features.
Step 1: Install and Activate WP Simple Pay Plugin
First, install and activate the WP Simple Pay plugin. If you need assistance, check out our guide on installing a WordPress plugin.
After activation, the plugin will automatically open the WP Simple Pay setup wizard. Click the ‘Let’s Get Started’ button to proceed.
Step 2: Complete the Setup Wizard
You will be directed to the next step in the setup process.
At this stage, you can either create a new Stripe account or connect to an existing one. Click the ‘Connect with Stripe’ button to continue.
If you already have a Stripe account, enter your email address and click the ‘Continue’ button.
This will integrate your Stripe account with your website, ensuring that all payments are directed to your Stripe account.
Next, you will be asked to select your Stripe account.
Then click ‘Connect.’ Alternatively, you can choose to create a new account.
Step 3: Create a Form to Accept Alipay Payments
After connecting your Stripe account, you will need to create a payment form.
Click the ‘Create a Payment Form’ button to get started.

Once you select the template, you will be directed to an easy-to-use drag-and-drop builder.
You will also be asked to configure the General settings, where you can personalize the title, description, form type, and additional options.
There are options available to include a CAPTCHA and an email verification button to help prevent fraudulent orders.
In the ‘Confirmation Page’ tab, you can set the destination for users after they complete the form.
By default, WP Simple Pay will display a custom success page once a customer completes a payment.
However, you can choose ‘Custom Page’ to redirect them to a different page on your WordPress site, which is an excellent chance to direct them to a thank you page or promote additional products or services.
Alternatively, if you wish to send customers to an external page, select ‘External URL.’ You can also include a ‘Payment Success Message’ to express gratitude and inform them about what to expect next.
After that, navigate to the ‘Payment’ tab on the left side.
This is where you will establish the ‘Default Price.’
In the ‘Payment Methods’ section, ensure that you select the checkbox for Alipay to start accepting Alipay payments on your website.
You can also opt for additional payment methods, including credit cards or ACH direct deposits. If you have WP Simple Pay Pro, you’ll gain access to a total of 13 payment options, such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Afterpay, Klarna, Cashapp, and more.
Next, navigate to the ‘Form Fields’ tab on the left side to add or modify any existing form fields.
Simply click the dropdown menu under ‘Form Fields’ and select ‘Add Field.’
You have a variety of options available, including phone number, address, coupon codes, and more.

In the top left corner, click the ‘+’ button.
Then, search for the ‘WP Simple Pay’ block and add it to your page.
You will see the block appear in the block editor.
From the dropdown menu, select the Alipay payment form you just created.
Once that’s completed, you should see the form integrated into your page.
Finally, click ‘Publish’ or ‘Update’ to save your changes.
Congratulations! You now know how to effortlessly accept Alipay payments on your WordPress site.
